Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival

The largest ice and snow festival in the world featuring dazzling ice and snow sculptures, illuminated massive ice castles, and a 1,115-foot-long slide, the Harbin Ice festival has been held since 1963. It was interrupted during the Cultural Revolution but resumed in 1985 and now stands alongside Japan’s Sapporo Snow Festival, Canada’s Quebec City Winter Carnival, and Norway’s Ski Festival as one of the top four ice and snow festivals in the world. For the brave and hardy, there’s even ice swimming in the Songhua River!
