Pingxi Lantern Festival | Taiwan

On the 15th day of the Lunar New Year-the first full moon of the year, thousands gather along the narrow streets of Pingxi to release sky lanterns into the night. Each handcrafted lantern is inscribed with hopes, wishes, and prayers for the coming year before being lit and set free into the heavens. Hundreds of these glowing lanterns rise into the midnight blue sky in a magical sea of warm amber light. This tradition, which began as way to signal to loved ones that the sender was safe, is a reminder that light, even in its most fragile form, has the power to carry our deepest wishes skyward.
